Chelsea and Tottenham's "Easiest" Starts to the Season
Despite sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table, Chelsea have had the easiest start to the season, according to Opta's power rankings. Mauricio Pochettino's men have struggled to find their form, with only one win so far.
Chelsea's Solo Victory and Tough Losses
The Blues' only victory came against newly promoted Luton Town at Stamford Bridge in August. However, they have since lost to Nottingham Forest at home and drawn away at Bournemouth, both teams that battled relegation last season. Chelsea was also heavily beaten by rivals West Ham.
Supercomputer Backs Chelsea to Recover
Despite their poor start, a supercomputer predicts that Chelsea will finish 7th in the league, enough to qualify for the Conference League. This would mark a return to European football for the club.
Tottenham's Strong Start
Tottenham, on the other hand, have started the season in fine form, remaining unbeaten in their opening five fixtures. They have won four out of five matches, with their only draw against Brentford on the opening day of the season. Spurs now sit in second place in the league.
Newcastle's Struggles
Newcastle had been struggling this season until their recent win against Brentford. They lost three of their first five games, leading to uncertainty from fans. Opta suggests that Newcastle has had the hardest fixtures out of any club in the league.
Brighton and Hove Albion Impressing
Brighton and Hove Albion have continued to impress after their strong performance last season. They currently sit in 5th place in the table, winning four out of five games. Their only defeat came against West Ham. Roberto de Zerbi's side has faced the seventh-hardest start to the season.
