Chelsea in Talks for German Defender David Odogu

Blues Interested in Wolfsburg's Under-17 World Cup Winner

Chelsea Football Club has reportedly held talks regarding a potential move for German defender David Odogu. The 17-year-old, who helped Germany secure victory in the Under-17 World Cup last year, has drawn comparisons to former Chelsea player Antonio Rudiger for his physical ability and presence on the field.

Competition from Leicester City

Leicester City, the current leaders in the Championship, are also said to be keen on acquiring Odogu. Although he has yet to make a senior appearance for his current club, Wolfsburg, the talented youngster is eager to make a move to England.

Early Stages of Negotiations

While any potential deal with Chelsea is still in the early stages, there have been positive discussions with Odogu's representatives. Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to have a more active role in transfer decisions during the January window, with a striker and defensive investment being top priorities for the club.

Possible Outgoings to Fund New Signings

In order to raise funds for new signings, Chelsea may need to sell some of their current players. Additionally, academy graduate Ian Maatsen is rumored to be a target for Borussia Dortmund, with Manchester City also showing interest.

Pochettino's Involvement in Transfer Decisions

Speaking about his involvement in transfer dealings, Pochettino recently stated that he expects to be part of the decision-making process. He emphasized the importance of communication between himself, the owners, and the sporting director to ensure they are all in agreement.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will successfully secure a deal for David Odogu, but the promising young defender has certainly caught the attention of several top English clubs.
