CHELSEA are reportedly lining up a move for the ‘new Gerrard Pique’.

But they face a battle with three Premier League rivals for the teen defender.

Chelsea are keen on landing 6ft 5in Croatian centre-back Luka Vuskovic, 16 (left)

Vuskovic has been likened to Barcelona legend Gerard Pique

Luka Vuskovic is just 16 years old but is already starring for Croatian side Hajduk Split.

Standing at 6ft 5in, Vuskovic has already scored a goal in just five senior appearances.

And last week he helped Split’s U19s reach the Uefa Youth League final with an impressive display in the victory over AC Milan.

Vuskovic has already been likened to ex-Barcelona and Man Utd centre-back Pique due to his size and technical ability.

And the Mail claims Chelsea are leading the race to sign him in a £12million move this summer.

Todd Boehly has made no secret of his desire to bring the world’s best youngsters to Stamford Bridge.

And Vuskovic fits the bill for the Blues in every sense.

Chelsea had scouts in attendance as Vuskovic dumped Milan’s youth side out of Europe.

And they continued to watch him in last night’s Youth League final, which Split lost 5-0 against AZ Alkmaar.

But Chelsea aren’t the only Premier League side in the running.

Man City are said to have already made an official enquiry for Vuskovic.

Meanwhile, both Liverpool and Newcastle fancy the look of the giant defender.

And Chelsea may have to move quickly to get a deal over the line.
