Chelsea make transfer move for Denzel Dumfries with Inter Milan expecting bid this week after Jules Kounde blow

CHELSEA have approached Inter Milan over a possible transfer for Denzel Dumfries, according to reports.

The Blues have monitored the right-back for some time and could make a move if Jules Kounde fails to sign.

Chelsea have enquired about Denzel Dumfries

Chelsea had a £55million bid for Kounde accepted by Sevilla but the defender now looks set to join Barcelona.

That has pushed Chelsea to enquire about Dumfries availability, with Inter setting their asking price at £34million, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Dumfries, 26, signed for Inter for £12.5m last year and Chelsea will reportedly try and get the Italian side to lower their valuation before making a bid this week.

Inter want to keep Dumfries but would be open to selling for the right price due to their financial situation.

Negotiations are set to continue between the two clubs with Thomas Tuchel ready to move on from Kounde.

It is possible the German is planning to play Dumfries at right wing-back with Reece James moving to central defence – a role he played on occasion at the end of last season.

Manchester United are also keen on Dumfries but need to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka before making a move for the Netherlands international.

Erik ten Hag is claimed to be a huge fan of Dumfries, who registered 12 goal contributions in 45 appearances across all competitions last season for Inter.

Tuchel and owner Todd Boehly will be determined not to lose out on another transfer target however having missed out on Raphinha to Barcelona.

The Spanish giants are also about to pinch Kounde from under Chelsea’s noses – leading the Blues to call off talks over selling Marcos Alonso to Barca.
