Chelsea ‘offered Memphis Depay and Sergino Dest as part of double transfer swap deal with Barcelona’

BARCELONA duo Memphis Depay AND Sergino Dest have reportedly been offered to Chelsea in a double swap deal for Marcos Alonso and club captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

The Catalan giants hold a long-term interest in the Spanish duo and are keen to negotiate swap deals rather than pay a fee.

Depay netted 13 goals across all competitions last season

Dest suffered from multiple injuries in the last campaign

And according to the Daily Mail, Depay and Dest are two names who have been offered to Chelsea for Alonso and Azpilucueta, with new owner Todd Boehly in Barca to discuss a number of deals.

Boehly met with Barca director Mateu Alemany, consultant Jordi Cruyff and president Joan Laporta on Thursday.

Depay joined Barca last summer on a free transfer after a successful stint in France with Lyon.

The Dutch international scored 13 goals across all competitions in his debut season.

But he may struggle for game time next term with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netting 12 following his January transfer from Arsenal.

USA International Dest struggled with injuries in the last campaign and will want to prove himself ahead of the Qatar World Cup.

Chelsea also held an interest in Barca midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The Blues were hoping to bolster Thomas Tuchel’s midfield options by signing boyhood fan Declan Rice from West Ham.

However, the Hammers slapped a £150million price tag on the England international.

De Jong could have picked up for a fee of £56m.

But Chelsea failed to rival Manchester United, managed by De Jong’s former boss Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils have agreed a deal with Barca for De Jong, but the move is being held up by the fact that Barca still owe the player £24m in deferred payments and bonuses from during the pandemic.
