Chelsea on the Hunt for New Striker After Devastating Injury to Christopher Nkunku

French Forward Out for Months

Chelsea Football Club is on the lookout for a new striker following a devastating injury to their latest signing, Christopher Nkunku. The French forward, who joined the club in a £56 million deal from RB Leipzig, suffered a knee injury during the pre-season tour of the United States. Nkunku has since undergone surgery and will be unable to train for four months.

Concerns over Offensive Options

The injury to Nkunku has left Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino worried about his team's attacking options. While they still have Romelu Lukaku on their books, it is believed that the striker is not part of Pochettino's plans and is actively seeking a move to Italy.

Pochettino's Plea for New Addition

Speaking about the situation, Pochettino said, "We are working on the market because we are going to miss one offensive player like this. We are working, trying to find a solution for this. Maybe in the short term or long term to add the right profile for the team to perform."

Pochettino expressed his disappointment over Nkunku's injury, describing him as a "very important player" and one of the best offensive players who can play in different positions. He emphasized the need to remain positive and hoped for a speedy and successful recovery.

Tough Start to the Season

The timing of Nkunku's injury couldn't have been worse as Chelsea is set to kick off their Premier League campaign against Liverpool on Sunday. The Blues will be hoping for a winning start under new boss Pochettino as they host the Reds at Stamford Bridge.
