Chelsea have travelled to Poland seeking a verbal agreement for Mykhailo Mudryk

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, the Blues are looking to steal a march on their London rivals by flying to Poland to hold showdown talks with Shakhtar.

The West Londoners are hoping to reach a verbal agreement with the Ukrainian giants.

In fact, Chelsea are willing to splash up to €100million (£89m), which is very close to the winger’s hefty release clause.

That is after Arsenal had two offers turned down and launched a third reportedly worth a club record £84m.

Romano tweeted: “Chelsea board now in Poland trying to reach verbal agreement with Shakhtar for Mudryk and hijack the deal! Official bid ready close to €100m.

“Arsenal always been leading the race, in talks with Shakhtar after 3d official bid.

“Mudryk position, now crucial.”

SunSport also revealed Chelsea were looking to move in for Mudryk and hold talks with his Shakhtar officials.

The Ukraine international has long teased a move to Arsenal having openly discussed his desire to join as well as posting pictures watching the Gunners’ games on social media.

A move to Mikel Arteta’s side is still the 22-year-old’s preference, but the feeling is the North Londoners are still a long way off his asking price.
