CHELSEA condemned Jose Mourinho to back-to-back home league defeats for the first time in his managerial career.
Jorginho converted a first-half penalty after Eric Dier tripped Timo Werner as they battled for the loose ball.
And that proved the only goal of the game as a passive Tottenham side offered virtually nothing in attack.
Simon Phillips gives his verdict on how the Blues players fared in the pouring rain in North London…
Edouard Mendy – 6
Some dodgy moments with the ball at his feet again but he largely remained untested in terms of efforts on goal from Spurs.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
Hit a great pass for Timo Werner to win Chelsea a penalty in the first half and put in another great shift at right centre-back.
Thiago Silva – 8
Was his usual calm and world-class self before unfortunately going off injured on 35 minutes.
Antonio Rudiger – 7
Some decent touches and calm passing and he almost had a couple of half-chances to score as well.

Reece James – 7
A good threat down the right-hand side working closely and linking up nicely with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount.
Rusty with some of his touches on occasion.
Jorginho – 8
Really helped Chelsea control and keep possession in deep areas and he took his penalty very well.
Great work defensively and worked very hard.
Mateo Kovacic – 8
Great under pressure on the ball and in the transition for Chelsea.
He controls possession well alongside Jorginho and looked to drive with the ball from deep.
Marcos Alonso – 6
Quite a few clumsy moments from him on the left and his lack of pace was tested often by Spurs – but some decent contributions going forward.
