Chelsea ‘ready to more than DOUBLE Dean Henderson’s wages to £170k-a-week after contacting Man Utd keeper over transfer’

CHELSEA are reportedly prepared to more than DOUBLE Dean Henderson’s wages in an attempt to sign the Manchester United keeper.

It comes with Frank Lampard still unconvinced by the longevity of Kepa Arrizabalaga, the world’s most expensive stopper.

According to Manchester Evening News, Chelsea have contacted Henderson’s representatives.

It is understood they are willing to increase his current wages of £70,000-a-week – which Sheffield United have paid the majority of this season – to £170,000.

United are due to hold talks with Henderson, 23, this week as they decide on who will be their No1 next season.

Current stopper David de Gea has come into question following several blunders this season, including two against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

Henderson, on the other hand, has kept a joint-second number of Premier League clean sheets this season with 13.

The current Blades keeper is hopeful of playing for United but will not rejoin to compete with De Gea.

Henderson is one of many keepers linked with a move to Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Marc-Andre ter Stegen of Barcelona are among the others as well as Ajax’s Andre Onana.

But paying £71.6million and handing Kepa £150,000 per week wages, Chelsea face a struggle to shift the Spaniard.

Loaning him out back to Spain or even signing a cheaper keeper to rival him are possible options.

Kepa was dropped at the start of the year but made his way back into the side after stand out performance in the FA Cup against Liverpool in February.

He has made 40 appearances this term, keeping just 10 clean sheets and conceding 53 goals.
