Chelsea receive huge injury boost as N’Golo Kante returns to training after month out with hamstring issue

N’GOLO KANTE has returned to Chelsea training six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury against Tottenham.

The Frenchman limped out of the 2-2 draw on August 14 and hasn’t played since.

N’Golo Kante was last in action against Tottenham on August 14

Kante, 31, subsequently missed Premier League clashes against Leeds, Leicester, Southampton and West Ham – as well as the Blues’ opening two Champions League matches.

Boss Thomas Tuchel was axed in his absence, with new man Graham Potter finally able to work with his star midfielder for the first time.

Kante has played in just two matches this term, having started the 1-0 win at Everton prior to the Tottenham draw.

His return is a timely boost for the Blues, who play NINE games in a gruelling October.

He was joined in Chelsea training by a host of other stars looking to reach peak fitness during the international break.

Edouard Mendy was left out of the Senegal squad with a knee issue but has been able to return to training alongside deputy Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ruben Loftus-Cheek also joined the session, as well as Trevoh Chalobah.

Potter, 47, recently ran the rule over Chalobah in a different position to the centre-back role in which he was deployed under Tuchel.

During a training match with Brighton he fielded the 23-year-old at the base of midfield, a role often filled by Jorginho in competitive games.

Chalobah was joined in the middle by Conor Gallagher and Denis Zakaria, with the Blues running out 2-1 victors thanks to a pair of Carney Chukwuemeka goals.

Chelsea return to action on Saturday with a trip to Crystal Palace, as Potter gets his first taste of Prem action with his new side.
