Chelsea sends scouts to watch Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens with Emerson and Alonso set to leave in transfer window

CHELSEA scouts watched Atalanta’s Robin Gosens on Monday as they bid to solve the Blues’ problem-left-back position, reports in Italy say.

Unfancied duo Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso could exit Stamford Bridge as early as the current transfer window as boss Frank Lampard plans to splash out.

Chelsea scouts reportedly saw Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens as he drilled their third goal in a 5-0 win over Parma on Monday

And Tuttomercatoweb says Blues’ representatives looked on as German star Gosens. 25, bagged a goal and an assist in a 5-0 rout of Parma.

Lampard is likely to strengthen all areas of his youthful squad this month after Chelsea had their two-window transfer ban halved.

But left-back is seen by many as the one slot he needs to find more than just competition for.

Italy and ex-Roma star Emerson, 25, has seemingly yet o fully convince Lampard.

And the future of Spain’s Alonso, 29, is even more uncertain.

Lamoard has omitted the former Fiorentina wing-back from his last four squads.

Leicester’s in-form England man Ben Chilwell is thought to be Lampard’s dream option, although any serious move might not come until next summer at the earliest.

But Gosens, who can also play in midfield, is enjoying his finest season so far.

After a slow-burning career with Dutch sides Vitesse and Heracles Almelo, he has impressed in Serie A since joining Atalanta in July 2017.

Six goals and four assists from his 20 leagues games have helped Atalanta to fifth place, just a point adrift of Roma.

And Italy’s surprise package are also through to the Champions league last 16, where they face Valencia.
