Chelsea Set to Release Malang Sarr on Free Transfer Amidst Squad Restructure

Chelsea Football Club is reportedly ready to part ways with Malang Sarr, allowing him to leave on a free transfer, despite having two years remaining on his contract. The French centre-back has struggled to secure a regular place in the team, leading to speculations about his future.

Free Transfer Opportunity

Reportedly, The Blues are willing to let Sarr go for free in the final days of the transfer window, according to French outlet Foot Mercato. This move presents an attractive deal for potential suitors as the 24-year-old is still under contract with Chelsea until 2025.

Both Nottingham Forest and Fulham are said to be in the running to finalize a deal before the transfer deadline on Friday.

Struggles at Stamford Bridge

Sarr joined Chelsea in 2020, but has so far only made eight appearances in the Premier League. He has spent loan spells at Monaco and Porto, but it seems likely that he will now depart from the London club on a permanent basis.

The astronomical wages of the Frenchman, who is reported to earn £100,000 per week, could be a major factor motivating Chelsea's decision to offload him.

Trimming Down the Squad

Chelsea is looking to reduce the size of their squad, with other departures anticipated before the transfer window closes. A £62 million disappointment, Marc Cucurella, is edging closer to a loan move to Manchester United. The Red Devils are seeking a replacement for the injured Luke Shaw.

In addition, high-profile players like Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, and Mateo Kovacic have already secured permanent moves to other clubs.

Looking for New Additions

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly in search of one more attacking player before the window shuts. Manchester City youngster Cole Palmer has emerged as a potential target after Chelsea failed in their initial approach for Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe.

The transfer deadline is fast approaching, and it remains to be seen how Chelsea's squad will shape up by the end of it.
