Chelsea star Andreas Christensen ‘REJECTS Premier League rivals out of respect for Blues as he nears Barcelona transfer’

ANDREAS CHRISTENSEN has turned down offers from English clubs out of ‘respect’ for Chelsea, according to reports.

The Dane’s Stamford Bridge contract is set to expire this summer, putting a number of clubs on red alert.

Andreas Christensen appears set to leave Chelsea

The defender’s potential suitors include some of Chelsea‘s Premier League rivals.

But according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Christensen isn’t considering offers from England because of his loyalty to his current employers.

Rather than staying in the Prem, the 25-year-old is edging towards a move to Barcelona.

Romano describes the agreement as being ‘really close’ – with a meeting scheduled for next week to iron out the final details.

Bayern Munich have also pushed to sign the 6ft 2in ace on a free transfer.

But Barca’s offer is understood to be more attractive.

Christensen joined Chelsea’s academy from Brondby aged just 16 in 2012.

He rose through the Cobham ranks impressively, and has now racked up 153 senior appearances to date.

With the Blues he has won the Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup.

Amid contract talks and a bout with Covid he has made just one Premier League appearance in 2022, however, coming at right-back in the recent 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Christensen could be joined in Spain by Chelsea team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta – with Barca also pushing to sign the Blues skipper on a free.
