Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi close to Bayer Leverkusen season-long loan transfer with winger not in Tuchel’s plans

CHELSEA are close to loaning Callum Hudson-Odoi to Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports.

The winger, 21, has found game time difficult to come by at Stamford Bridge and is yet to make an appearance this season.

Chelsea are also keen to bolster their wide options with the additions of Anthony Gordon and Rafael Leao, making Hudson-Odoi surplus to requirements.

The youngster is close to completing a season-long loan to Bayer Leverkusen, with his representatives in advanced talks with the German club, report Sky Sports News.

Newcastle have also shown an interest in the England under-21 international but his £100,000 salary has proved a sticking point.

Hudson-Odoi was subject to a bid from Bayern Munich two years ago but now looks set to move to the Bundesliga after all – despite signing a new contract when Chelsea rejected the German champions.

He still has two years to run on that deal but is keen to play regular football, and should get that chance under Leverkusen boss Gerardo Seoane.

After a hectic summer of transfer spending the Blues have been looking to offload forward players.

Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic have attracted interest from AC Milan and Manchester United respectively.

Both could still follow Hudson-Odoi out of the club with Chelsea expected to wrap up a deal for Gordon worth at least £50million.

Ziyech could still move to Milan in exchange for Leao with the Serie A champions reportedly keen to add a Blues player to their squad.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also raised funds through the sale of outcast Emerson Palmieri.

The Italian spent last season on loan at Lyon and has now moved across London to West Ham in a £13m deal.
