Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri wanted by Jose Mourinho’s Roma in summer transfer with Inter Milan and Napoli also keen

ROMA are interested in Chelsea wing-back Emerson Palmieri, according to reports.

The Italian hardly featured for the Blues last season under Frank Lampard or Thomas Tuchel.

Emerson could leave Stamford Bridge this summer

But his stock remains high in his home country, especially after he helped Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri side win Euro 2020.

Napoli have been most heavily linked with the 26-year-old this summer.

But according to Calcio Mercato, Roma could try to re-sign him.

Emerson played in the Italian capital for three years between 2015 and 2018, before joining the Blues for an initial £17.6million.

His spell at Stamford Bridge has been chaotic, playing under four managers in West London.

He has made 70 appearances for the club, with only two coming in the Premier League last term.

But he will not leave Chelsea empty handed, having picked up Europa League and Champions League winners’ medals during his time with the club.

Emerson stepped in for the injured Leonardo Spinazzola for Italy at Euro 2020, after the Roma star suffered a snapped Achilles tendon.

And he could also deputise for the exciting wing-back at club level, if new boss Jose Mourinho gets his way.

But his side will have to battle with Napoli and Inter Milan first – while Chelsea are reportedly demanding around £17m.

Napoli want to replace Spaniard Mario Rui in their defence.

While Inter let Ashley Young leave on a free transfer at the end of last season.
