Chelsea star NGolo Kante out indefinitely as Lampard gives injury update ahead of Burnley clash

N’Golo Kante is out indefinitely as Frank Lampard tries to get him 100 per cent fit

The Frenchman has started just three Premier League games this season with knee, ankle and hamstring problems.

Lampard is likely to name the same side that beat Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday but seems to have accepted the fact he will be without the World Cup winner for the foreseeable.

He said: “I just want him fit. He has played a lot of football for four years. He had a big injury off the back of last season.

“So, I think that maybe he is suffering from that big injury and a little fall out from that.

“I think now it is time to take a small step back just to get his fitness up and be confident that we wont have a domino effect with small injuries.

“So, theres no actual time frame.”

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are also set to miss the trip to Turf Moor with groin and hamstring injuries respectively.

Lampard was also asked to provide an update on the FIFA transfer ban the club are under.

But admitted he is somewhat in the dark as to the status of their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport which could mean they are allowed to sign players again in January.

He added: “I dont know, is the answer. I dont know if we can. It is not in my hands so I wouldnt want to speculate if we can or cant [bring any new players in].

Chelsea’s likely lineup vs Burnley

“At the minute, we cant. I am just concentrating on what is ahead of us with the squad we have now.

“A club like Chelsea, we will always be looking at can we improve the squad?

“If there is the potential to bring players in. At the moment, I dont know the answer.
