Chelsea stars Andreas Christensen and N’Kolo Kante blasted over Aston Villa goal by Ian Wright

IAN WRIGHT laid into Andreas Christensen and N’Kolo Kante over Aston Villa’s costly equaliser at Chelsea.

Anwar El Ghazi stole in to tuck home Matty Cash’s cross and stop the stuttering Blues rising from sixth to third in the Premier League.

Andreas Christensen is accused of staying down following a clash with Jack Grealish when he was capable of getting up

Ian Wright believes Chelsea’s French World Cup winner N’Kolo Kante should have been tracking Villa scorer Anwar El Ghazi

And Wrighty blasted centre-back Christensen‘s failure to get up from a clash with Jack Grealish, plus midfielder Kante‘s lack of awareness.

England playmaker Grealish was soon back up on his feet, while Christensen remained out of the game as Villa built their 50th-minute leveller.

Kante, meanwhile, was also off the radar when he could have been tracking El Ghazi.

Holland winger El Ghazi was left unmarked as he became the first Villa player since Tom Cleverley in May 2015 to net in three straight Prem matches.

Christensen and Antonio Rudiger had replaced Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva in central defence as Chelsea chief Frank Lampard made six changes from last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.

But Wrighty nipped in as quickly as El Ghazi did to slam Denmark star Christensen.

The former Arsenal and England striker told Premier League Productions: “I’m very disappointed there with Christensen because we see Jack Grealish get up here and it’s not a knock that’s going to make him have to leave the game.

“I don’t want to see my centre-half lying on the floor like that when you know nothing is wrong with you.

“You can see all the problems it’s caused.

“Kante should’ve got back quicker.

“Maybe [Cesar] Azpilicueta could’ve been a little bit more aware but he’s worried about Jack Grealish and in the end they score the goal.

‘They deservedly score the goal but my problem is… if Grealish can get up and play on, he [Christensen] should play on as well.

“Then you look at Grealish, he occupies Azpilicueta.

“Then it’s Kante, we’re talking about one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and his awareness of where El Ghazi was and the awareness that the other centre-half wasn’t in there baffled me that he didn’t recognise that situation.”

Recalled striker Olivier Giroud had headed Chelsea in front – but Villa’s comeback left the Midlanders above the Blues on goal difference.
