Chelsea to feed local NHS staff in plush Stamford Bridge hospitality restaurants during coronavirus shutdown

CHELSEA have taken their efforts to help the fight against coronavirus to a new level by offering up their plush restaurants for NHS use.

One of the club’s two on-site hotels at Stamford Bridge is already full to the brim of medics who are staying for free in between shifts at local hospitals.

Chelsea will use its fancy Stamford Bridge restaurant to feed NHS workers

But Chelsea are keen to go further and have told London Mayor Sadiq Khan that they are ready to feed the army of NHS staff who are working nearby but travelling to and from home.

The modern East Stand comprises a number of suites named after club legends such as Ted Drake and fearsome defender Ron Harris.

Normally they are used for high-brow fans to wine and dine before matches.

But with football in shutdown over the Covid-19 outbreak the vast kitchens and catering facilities are standing idle and Chelsea want to pitch in.

They have also told the authorities that with no activity at their 42,000 capacity stadium in the heart of London’s West End, they are also happy to convert the spacious concrete aprons in front of the stands into makeshift car parks for NHS workers.

The 72 rooms at the Millennium Hotel which adjoins the famous Shed End at Chelsea is full to capacity.

And the club stands ready to turn over its sister hotel The Copthorne for NHS use as well.

Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have followed Chelsea’s lead and offered two hotels they own for NHS use.
