Chelsea transfer target Lucas Vazquez open to Premier League move from Real Madrid because it ‘fits personality’

REAL MADRID ace Lucas Vazquez has revealed he is open to a Premier League move as he thinks he is well suited to life in the English top-flight.

Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the 28-year-old Spaniard who has found it tough to make the starting line-up in Madrid‘s star-studded team this season.

After three Champions League triumphs and a La Liga title, Vazquez could choose to leave the Bernabeu behind after making just six league starts this campaign.

The boyhood Los Blancos fan has made 201 appearances in total for Zinedine Zidane‘s side but could be tempted by a fresh start.

He told The Guardian: “The dream is to retire at Madrid but in football, you don’t know.

“When I was little, I always watched the Premier League with my brother. It was, it is, very attractive: a nice football to play, one that could fit my characteristics and personality well.

“I have a basis (of the language) already and I watch series in English, read a bit, study grammar. I’ve been doing it for a year and a half.”

With all of Europe’s big clubs feeling the pinch amid the coronavirus pandemic, funds will need to be raised to buy any new players.

Vazquez could be one of a number of players including ex Spurs star Gareth Bale involved in a clearout at Madrid in the summer.

The wing-wizard may well be drafted into Frank Lampard‘s Blues squad to provide some experience within his youthful side.

Brazilian Willian‘s contract expires in the summer and the 31-year-old is one of few senior players at Lampard’s disposal.

Willian has been linked with Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Arsenal among others and Vazquez could be an ideal replacement.

Additionally fellow Spaniard and former Barcelona ace Pedro is another man who could be on his way out of the door at Chelsea with his deal also expiring and would leave a spot for Vazquez to fill, if he chooses to act upon his curiosity with the English top-flight.
