Chelsea weighing up whether to offload flop keeper Kepa this summer with Burnley No1 Nick Pope eyed in transfer

, Chelsea weighing up whether to offload flop keeper Kepa this summer with Burnley No1 Nick Pope eyed in transfer

CHELSEA are reportedly looking to sell Kepa this summer – with Nick Pope viewed as a possible replacement.

The Spanish goalkeeper has failed to live up to expectations since his 71.6million world-record move from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.

Nick Pope has been tipped to replace Kepa at Stamford Bridge

According to Bleacher Report, Chelsea’s scouts are already working on potential replacements for Kepa.

Pope has emerged as their top target, but he penned a new deal last summer that will keep him with Burnley until 2023.

The 27-year-old has cemented his spot between the sticks for Sean Dyche’s side this season following his impressive spell of form.

And the Clarets boss even admitted that he has set his sights on becoming England’s No1 goalkeeper.

Kepa is still a regular starter for Chelsea, but has failed to justify his huge price-tag in the Premier League.

He has kept just seven seven clean sheets during 23 games for Lampard’s side in the top-flight.

Following Chelsea’s shock defeat to Newcastle, it was revealed that he is statistically the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League.

The goalkeeper’s shocking save percentage left him ranked at 127th out of 132 goalkeepers in the whole of Europe.

Lampard slated the 25-year-old after Chelsea threw away the lead twice during the London derby clash against Arsenal.

When quizzed about Kepa’s performance after the game, Lampard said: “I know there’s a focus on him at the minute.I think that’s top-line football.

“With his feet a couple of times today he took too long and nearly gave it away.

“And sometimes that can change the momentum of a game.

“So that’s something obviously that he’ll know and has to look at – and we have to look at.

“And yeah, it’s normal. Any player in a position, particularly goalkeepers, people will look at you and that’s when you stand up and show the mettle that you’ve got. So I think he’s not the only one.

“We’re in fourth position, which is seen as being pretty good, but I know and we know that there should be another 10 points on the board at least on performance.

“So all of us need to look at this finer details.”
