Chelsea youngster may have accidentally confirmed Timo Werner transfer by answering question on Instagram

TIMO WERNER’S move to Chelsea may have been accidentally confirmed by a Blues player on Instagram.

Stamford Bridge youngster Armando Broja seemingly let slip confirmation of the deal during an Instagram Live.

The 18-year-old starlet said: “What do I think about Werner coming in? I think Werner is a really good player.

“He is really fast, strong, he can score a lot of goals.

“I’ve watched him a lot on YouTube, he is quite good. That is a good signing, I think.”

Albanian ace Broja made his Premier League debut earlier this season against Everton.

Werner is expected to be officially announced as a Chelsea player in the near future in a £54million deal.

The Blues fought off competition from champions elect Liverpool to snap up the talented RB Leipzig forward, with the timing of the move the only thing yet to be agreed.

Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp revealed he could not morally justify splashing the cash on his compatriot with negotiations over wage reductions underway at the Reds.

The West London side pulled out all the stops to convince the 24-year-old German his future belonged at Stamford Bridge.

It was reported boss Frank Lampard and German-speaking sporting director Petr Cech made a secret visit to Germany to help get the deal over the line.

Werner‘s friendship with international colleague and Blues defender Antonio Rudiger also accelerated the process.

But his rumoured £170,000 a week base salary at Chelsea is likely to make it harder for the club to broker another pay cut amid the coronavirus crisis.

Skipper Cesar Azpilicueta previously got the squad to agree to a 10 per cent salary reduction over WhatsApp.

Werner is set to become Chelsea’s best paid player and will rake in £20,000 more a week than current top earner Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl signed Werner for Leipzig back in 2016 and has had his say on his former charge’s impending Premier League arrival.

He told SportBild: “I always struggle with these figures. Chelsea have big plans and have to win titles again. And strikers who score at the front cost a lot of money.

“It was not normal for us [RB Leipzig in 2016] to get him at the time for €10m. After that, many were annoyed when he developed so well.”

Hasenhuttl was full of praise for Werner and explained: “[He is] a very physical player, good on one-on-one. What they don’t like here are players who roll away or act. Football is very intense and fast. This in turn suits Timo: With his speed he is a brutal weapon in the right team.

“Timo is a player who needs a shoulder to lean on, or a little more encouragement. But what I always liked about him is that he scores goals that nobody else scores.

“Give him some space and it’s hard to stop him. Getting through elsewhere as a striker is only difficult if you don’t immediately show that you have qualities. But I’m not worried about him at all.”
