Chilean Striker Ben Brereton Diaz Set to Make Premier League Return with Sheffield United

Striker's Impressive Goal Scoring Record at Blackburn Earns Him Premier League Opportunity

Ben Brereton Diaz, the talented Chilean striker, is on the verge of a return to the Premier League in January. The player's impressive goal scoring record at former club Blackburn Rovers has caught the attention of top-flight clubs.

During his time at Blackburn, Brereton Diaz found the back of the net 47 times in 177 games, including 22 Championship goals in the 2021-22 season.

Struggles at Villarreal Lead to Potential Move

After his contract expired, Brereton Diaz made the move to Villarreal in the summer. However, the Chile international has struggled to settle at the Spanish club.

So far this season, Brereton Diaz has only started two LaLiga games and made 12 appearances from the bench. Unfortunately, he is yet to score or assist for the club.

Lifeline Offered by Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is ready to offer the 24-year-old striker a lifeline by bringing him back to England. The Blades are set to propose a six-month loan deal for Brereton Diaz.

With the club in desperate need of goals to boost their survival bid, the addition of Brereton Diaz could provide the attacking spark they require. Currently, Oli McBurnie and Cameron Archer are the joint top scorers for Sheffield United, each with only three goals.

Interest in Premier League Experience in Goalkeeping Department

Alongside their pursuit of Brereton Diaz, Sheffield United is also looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department. Kasper Schmeichel, currently the number one at Belgian side Anderlecht, is a player of interest for the Blades.

Schmeichel, who left Leicester City in 2022, could be tempted by a return to the Premier League.

With Sheffield United struggling at the bottom of the table, having secured just nine points from 20 games played, the club is determined to make these signings to bolster their chances of survival.
