Henderson, has impressed at Bramall Lane, helping United to promotion from the Championship last season since moving there in June 2018.

There is now speculation that the youngster could be on his way back to United and even take the place of David De Gea.

He has managed to keep eight clean sheets already this season and his performances could see him land a spot in England’s Euro 2020 squad.

”If the opportunity came about that figure would be huge. If the opportunity comes about that we could get him back on loan next season we’d be all over that.”

Henderson put in a fantastic display during Sheffield United’s eventual 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Tuesday night.

He controversially denied Gabriel Jesus a goal, which was followed by a chant from fans: ”England’s number one, England’s, England’s number one”.

After the game, Wilder had nothing but praise for the shot-stopper. He said: ”He wants to play first team football. Maybe I shouldn’t be saying this but I’m not so sure he’ll play back-up to anybody because it’s just the character of the boy.

”Maybe he’ll come out and say it. If there’s a decision for Manchester United for him to come out to us for another year, we’d gladly take that.

“We’ve already started talking with them but he’s their player and that decision will be made on behalf of Manchester United and their player but he’s been outstanding for us”.

Henderson has come a long way since opening up about having suicidal thoughts early last year.
