Crystal Palace want Ajax midfield maestro Edson Alvarez and Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson in double transfer swoop

CRYSTAL PALACE are hot on the trail of Ajax’s Mexico midfield maestro Edson Alvarez.

The Eagles will need a new engine room for next season and are back watching Alvarez after missing out when he went to Holland a couple of years ago.

The Eagles are also preparing a swoop for Forest star Brennan Johnson

Alvarez is one of the most accomplished defensive midfielders around and has also been on West Ham’s hitlist in the past.

But Palace will have the funds to bid for him in the summer.

Ajax will look for over £20million for 24-year-old Alvarez.

But Palace have that kind of cash as they look to replace some of their older players who are running out of contract.

Palace hope rivals keep ignoring Alvarez and give them a chance to win the chase when the next window opens.

The Eagles are also in the hunt for Nottingham Forest’s speedy star Brennan Johnson.

The Welsh international is already a target for Brentford.

The winger could be sold in the summer if Forest fail to go up as his contract will be entering its final year.

Forest could have got £14m from the Bees so Palace would have to offer in that range for a winger who fits their style of play.
