Darwin Nunez admits he has no idea what Jurgen Klopp is saying to him in Liverpool team talks

LIVERPOOL star Darwin Nunez has tongue-in-cheekily claimed his struggles are down to not being able to understand Jurgen Klopp.

The Uruguayan international forward, 22, became the Reds’ record signing this summer.

Darwin Nunez may have revealed why he is struggling at Liverpool

He says he cannot understand what boss Jurgen Klopp is saying to him

Klopp forked out £85million to bring the ace to Anfield from Benfica to fill the void left by Sadio Mane’s departure to Bayern Munich.

Nunez scored in Liverpool’s opening Premier League game at Fulham but has found it difficult since.

He was sent-off for headbutting Joachim Andersen in the club’s next match against Crystal Palace which led to a three-match ban and he has failed to find the target in five games since returning from suspension.

Klopp paired him with Diogo Jota in attack last night for the 2-0 Champions League win over Rangers, but the South American was unable to find a way past Gers stopper Allan McGregor.

Now Nunez has jokingly claimed that his woes in front of goal are due to him being unable to understand his German manager’s accent when he speaks English.

In an interview with TNT Sports, he said: “The truth is, I honestly don’t understand anything when he talks.

“Of course, I ask my teammates to see what he said, but I think he is very clear about his style of play.

“He asks us to do the simple things, not to be afraid to play games, to have confidence. And when he loses a ball, he wants us to put pressure on him.

“That’s what he always asks us, we have things clear.”

Klopp called for Liverpool fans to have patience with Nunez earlier this week.

And he remains pleased with what he has seen, saying: “We can see that. The way the boys up front moved together was extremely, extremely good for only one session working on it, to be honest.

“We never did it before. We had now one session and that with low intensity because we only played recently.

“You saw how good a striker he [Nunez] is to be constantly in those situations. Everybody saw tonight that this will happen. So all good.”
