Donny van de Beek refusing to give up on Man Utd career as outcast midfielder posts defiant message after Atalanta draw

MANCHESTER UNITED ace Donny van de Beek proved that he is still fighting for a place in the squad despite a turbulent start to his Old Trafford career.

Van de Beek joined United from Ajax last year following a £39million deal but has since fallen down the pecking order and hasn’t convinced manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United star Donny van de Beek shared a defiant message on social media

So far he has only managed a mere one goal and two assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

The attacking midfielder got some game time last night at Atalanta in the Champions League when he replaced Bruno Fernandes on 87 minutes.

The Netherlands international didn’t stay long but still helped the Red Devils get a late equaliser with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester giants picked up a 2-2 draw in Italy following another hapless performance but the 24-year-old remains confident.

Van de Beek took to social media after the match and posted a picture of himself from the game on Instagram with the following caption: “Never give up.”

That led to a raft of positive reactions from the fans who expressed their support for the struggling Dutchman.

One United faithful posted: “He made a great impact yesterday big up to him.”

Another one wrote: “Don’t give up Donny, the world supports you.”

A third stated: “Van de Beek. The change we need in the midfield. Hang on bro. It’s going to be a long season with a lot to offer.”

This fan said: “He’s well deserving of a chance.”

And that one commented: “He played insane for the time he was on for real, great performance he had against Atalanta.”

Atalanta gave the visitors a hard time, just like they did in the first leg at Old Trafford, by opening the scoring with Josip Ilicic after just 12 minutes.

Ronaldo equalised on the first minute of stoppage time but Gian Piero Gasperini’s men regained the lead on 56 minutes with Duvan Zapata.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner bailed United out once more with a dramatic last-gasp equaliser just a few seconds before full-time.
