Elderly Chelsea fan tries to set up ‘handsome charmer’ Mason Mount on date with granddaughter in hilarious video call

AN Elderly Chelsea fan tried to set up “handsome charmer” Mason Mount on a date with her granddaughter in a hilarious video call.

Lifelong Blues fan Maureen was made up after the Stamford Bridge ace got in touch to see how she has been coping amid the lockdown.

Chelsea star Mason Mount made a lifelong Blues fan’s day

Maureen tried to set the 21-year-old up with her granddaughter

In a video on Chelsea’s Youtube channel, the pair had a natter about what they’re missing in lockdown, the best soaps on TV and even Mount’s love life.

Maureen dropped her granddaughter, named Chelsea after the club, right in it by revealing she is love-struck with the 21-year-old ace.

She said: “She’s besotted by you.

“Wait till she knows I’ve spoken to you, she will be jealous,

“She’ll be over the moon, she’ll say, ‘did you tell him about me nan?’

“She’s beautiful actually, are you looking for a girlfriend?”

To which Mount, who was in fits of laughter, replied: “Are you trying to set me up?

“I don’t think my girlfriend would be too happy.”

The cheeky Blues fan then gave some sound advice for the youngster, she said: “Well, you don’t know till you find out,

“You have to play the field you know when you’re young.”

The pair also had a chin-wag about what they’ve been getting up to in lockdown with Maureen probing the Stamford Bridge starlet to see if he has been sticking to the rules.

The midfielder was criticised after being spotted playing 5-a-side with West Ham’s Declan Rice while in self isolation when the Premier League was first shutdown.

Chelsea were unimpressed, with a club spokesman reminding him of his responsibilities.

The youngster also phoned boss Frank Lampard at the time to apologise for his actions.

Maureen asked: “Are you staying in all the time?

The Blues star responded: “Yes, I’m staying in all the time, trying to keep myself busy.

“I’m alone as well at the moment, my mum and dad are back home in Portsmouth where I’m originally from, so I told them to stay there.”

A usually fresh-faced Mount is sporting a brand new moustache and goatee look as time passes in lockdown.

Lockdown facial hair appears to be on trend and SunSport got thinking about what would happen if certain stars – including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – opted to test out a new bearded look
