Emre Can REJECTS transfer to Man Utd out of respect for old club Liverpool as midfielder hunt continues

MANCHESTER UNITED have been snubbed by Emre Can because he has too much respect for ex-club Liverpool.

According to reports in Italy, the German, 25, would rather stay and scrap it out with Juventus’ crowded haul of midfield talent, than walk into the first team at Old Trafford.

Emre Can has reportedly rejected a move to Manchester United out of loyalty to Liverpool

Can would become the first player to play for both Liverpool and United since Michael Owen made the switch from Newcastle in 2009.

But that looks unlikely to happen, even though Reds fans were frustrated that he left them for a big payday at the Allianz Stadium.

The ex-Leverkusen man has played just eight Serie A games for the Old Lady this season, but featured in all six of their Champions League group stage games.

TuttoSport claim the man who left Anfield on a free transfer in 2018 would not have his head turned by interest from United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are currently sixth in the Premier League, behind this season’s surprise package, Sheffield United and five points back on Chelsea who are fourth.

The Norwegian is having a minor injury crisis in midfield, after Paul Pogba had ankle surgery during the week.

Scott McTominay is also out long term with a knee problem and was spotted hobbling around Manchester on crutches.

Can played for Liverpool for four seasons before he left following their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in 2018.

He may have lived to regret his choice though, as Jurgen Klopp’s side went on to conquer Europe at the end of last season.
