PSG say Mauricio Pochettino is going nowhere

Ex-Tottenham boss Pochettino was deemed United’s No1 target but PSG director Leonardo Araujo has other ideas.

Araujo told L’Equipe: “We’ve never thought about changing our manager. We’ve never contacted Zidane or anyone.

“I can say that Mauricio Pochettino has never asked to leave. I have no problem with him. We talk about everything.”

It would leave Ten Hag – who has managed Ajax since 2017 – as a frontrunner for the role.

And according to the Daily Mail, the Dutchman has started learning English while preparing for talks with United.

And it is claimed Ajax are understood to be aware of Ten Hag’s intention to leave the club at the end of the season following recent internal talks.

Carlo Ancelotti, the former Everton and Chelsea boss who is in his second spell with Real Madrid, has also been linked with United.

It comes after United revealed they are stepping up their search for a long-term replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked in November.

Football director John Murtough said: “We are now conducting a thorough process for the appointment of a permanent manager who will take charge this summer with the objective to get us back to challenging for domestic and European titles.”

Murtough added: “We know that consistency is key as we strive for a top-four finish this season.

“I want to reiterate, however, that this is not the ultimate objective for Manchester United — and everyone at the club is focused on challenging for the top trophies.”
