Erling Haaland Opens Premier League Season with Goal for Manchester City

Manchester City's Erling Haaland wasted no time in getting on the scoresheet as he scored just four minutes into the new Premier League season. The Norwegian forward found the back of the net in City's match against Burnley on Friday night.

A Well-Worked Corner Routine

It was a well-executed corner routine that allowed Manchester City to break the deadlock against their newly-promoted opponents. After a series of passes, Kevin De Bruyne's lofted cross was headed back across the goal by Rodri. The ball fell perfectly for Haaland, who calmly swept it past James Trafford and into the bottom corner.

Not a Surprising Start

Fans were far from surprised to see Haaland scoring so early in the season. Social media was flooded with reactions to his goal, with one supporter stating, "Big whoop Haaland scores. Water is wet." Another fan tweeted, "That didn't take long." While a third fan jokingly commented, "He's so annoying." And one more added, "Did we expect anything less?"

Impressive Goal-Scoring Record

With this goal, Haaland's tally in the Premier League now stands at 37 since joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund last summer. In the previous season, the 23-year-old netted an impressive 36 goals, securing the golden boot in a record-breaking debut campaign in England. Haaland also played a vital role in City's treble win, scoring a total of 52 goals across all competitions. It's worth noting that he had been on a dry spell, going six matches without scoring prior to this match against Burnley.
