Ex-Chelsea boss Avram Grant is ‘antisocial and a s*** motivator’, blasts former West Ham star Julien Faubert

AVRAM GRANT was antisocial and a s*** motivator, according to ex-West Ham winger Julien Faubert.

Former Hammers and Chelsea boss Grant was in charge of the East Londoners the last time they were relegated in 2011 and Faubert says he “learned nothing” from the Israeli.

Avram Grant was anti-social and a s*** motivator, according to ex-West Ham winger Avram Grant
The Frenchman played under Grant from 2010-11

Speaking to the Athletic, Faubert said: “That guy was so antisocial.

“He never spoke to us, he barely took charge of the training sessions because he was always in his office, his motivation was sh*t and I didn’t learn anything from him.

“Time after time and after every game we kept seeing the same problems with very little progress.

“We tried to be positive and motivate each other but everything was so bad, from the training and preparation for games.

“It’s such a shame, because the fans were on our side until the very end.”

Faubert played 121 times for the Irons scoring twice and bagging 11 assists.

He split opinion during his time at the club but did not hold back when laying into his former boss who won just seven of his 37 games in charge between June 2010 and May 2011.

Grant only managed a year at Chelsea too having been appointed in July 2007 and sacked in May 2008.

In his time at Stamford Bridge, the Blues finished second in the Premier League and reached the Champions League final which they lost on penalties to Manchester United.

Faubert added: “People say he is the reason why Chelsea reached the Champions League final but it wasn’t, it was down to the players.

“With us, it was his assistant (Zeljko Petrovic) who would do the training sessions and he tried to make it fun.

“He really tried his best but if Avram Grant can be a manager then I can too. That season, he made so many poor decisions.

“It’s going to sound bad but the season we got relegated it was inevitable.

“I didn’t have a good relationship with him and we got relegated because of him.”

Faubert was involved in one of the most bizarre transfers of all time when he was loaned to Real Madrid from West Ham in 2009.

He was famously spotted asleep on Los Blancos’ bench and swiftly returned to East London having made just two appearances for the Spanish giants.
