FANS were left convinced that Manchester United’s Champions last 16 draw was ‘FIXED’ after seemingly being denied the opportunity to face Atletico Madrid.
Enraged Red Devils fans cried that it was a ‘fix’ when they went on to instead draw Paris Saint-Germain – having not been put in the pot to potentially face Atletico.
Guest Andrei Arshavin initially pulled Man United out of the pot to face Villarreal… in a repeat of last year’s Europa League final.
But the Russian sheepishly had to put the ball back in the pot and re-draw, as United already played Unai Emery’s side in the group stage, therefore not being eligible to get them in the round of 16.
Rivals Manchester City were then pulled out to face Villarreal.
And the Red Devils were seemingly DENIED the opportunity to draw Atletico Madrid, with their ball omitted from the pot of potential opponents for Diego Simeone’s side.
Uefa master of ceremonies Giorgio Marchetti had said that Man United would NOT be a contender to face Atletico, when they should have been.
He then grabbed balls from each pot other than the Red Devils’ and Liverpool’s – as Jurgen Klopp’s side played Atleti in the group stage.

Red Devils fans fumed that it would be ‘typical’ for them to then go and get Paris Saint-Germain after initially thinking they’d gotten a presentable draw.
While others claimed that the draw would surely have to be conducted again.
One fan wrote: “There needs to be a redraw. Man United was incorrectly omitted from the Atletico Madrid draw as the hosts were confused. They were not already drawn at the time as the Villareal draw was void.”
United will take on potential manager target Mauricio Pochettino and PSG in the round of 16.
And the clash will see Cristiano Ronaldo renew his rivalry with old foe Lionel Messi – with the GOAT pair boasting 12 Ballons d’Or between them.
The perfect narratives surrounding the tie coupled with the Atletico farce led some United fans online to believe that it was a ‘fix’.
One wrote on Twitter: “They wanted to give us PSG so bad they messed up the draw midway trying to fix it.”
While another added: “This draw stinks of a fix.”
A third joked: “When you try and fix a draw and it doesn’t quite come off.”
