Fans think Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand has changed Cristiano Ronaldo’s mind about Man City transfer after cryptic tweet

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are hoping Cristiano Ronaldo has snubbed Manchester City following a cryptic tweet by Rio Ferdinand.

The ex-defender played with Ronaldo at Old Trafford for several years and only recently discussed how he is in regular contact with the striker.

Has Rio Ferdinand revealed all on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future?

On Friday, the Portuguese icon is said to have waved goodbye to his Juventus team-mates with a 40-minute trip to the club’s training ground.

A move to City is on the cards although personal terms are yet to be agreed amid Ronaldo’s £510,000-a-week wage demands.

Ferdinand, 42, tweeted a gif of Leonardo Di Caprio in the 2013 film The Great Gatsby that appeared to suggest he was chuffed at a surprise decision.

What exactly that was remains to be seen with just ‘…’ left to caption the image.

Fans began to speculate with some Red Devils supporters hoping for good news on the Ronaldo front.

One Twitter user commented: “Rio certainly knows something otherwise wouldn’t tweet this. Deal collapsed? Lol.”

Jack replied: “No way the deal collapsed LOOOL.”

One Ronaldo fan added: “It means Ronaldo is joining City to make sure they won’t win the UCL. Agent Ronaldo is still a Red deep down.”

But Zainul insisted: “Don’t believe this fella, he’s a serial baiter.”

And another tweeted: “You don’t know anything pal.”

Questions have been raised over whether Ronaldo, 36, would tarnish his Manchester United legacy by moving to the Etihad.

Wayne Rooney has insisted the forward would not consider the move due to his Old Trafford past.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not want to see Ronaldo line up against his team later this season.

Even the man himself dismissed the idea of a future transfer shortly after his United spell.
