Fans want Rashford as Prime Minister after Man Utd ace wins free school meals battle with Boris in amazing lockdown

MARCUS RASHFORD is celebrating another epic moment despite being in lockdown after winning his row with Boris Johnson.

And many fans of the Manchester United star now want the 22-year-old striker as Prime Minister.

Fans now want to the Manchester United striker to be PM instead of Boris Johnson

Rashford rolled into Carrington this morning in his Mercedes-Benz ‘G-Wagon’ to continue to prepare for the season’s restart.

But away from focusing on Friday’s trip to Tottenham, the Government have performed a U-turn after seemingly rejecting Rashford’s plea to stop kids going hungry when the school-meal vouchers system is halted at the end of this term.

After pressure from the hotshot, who has already raised £20million through FareShare to help provide over two million meals a week to those most in need, the Johnson has announced a new £120m voucher scheme called the “Covid summer food fund”.

The PM’s spokesperson said: “Owing to the corona pandemic, the PM fully understands that children and parents face an entirely unprecedented situation over the summer.”

The Man Utd star has been a generous figure in lockdown

It comes after ministers repeatedly rejected the idea of extending the scheme over the summer holidays, just like they did over the Easter break.

When asked whether Rashford’s pleas had helped to change Johnson’s mind, his spokesperson said: “The prime minister welcomes Marcus Rashford’s contribution to the debate around poverty, and respects the fact that he has been using his profile as a sportsman to highlight important issues.”

Rashford responded to the news by tweeting: “I don’t even know what to say. Just look at what we can do when we come together, THIS is England in 2020.”

It is the latest impressive landmark for the forward on his quest to give back and help those less fortunate than himself during the coronavirus crisis.

As well as his £20m charity fund-raising, he has already been working with FareShare UK, a charity supplying two million meals every week to vulnerable children.

And having helped to raise an astonishing £20million for the project, kind-hearted Rashford has continued his good work last week.

The ace swapped his football boots for a PE kit as he guided kids through a number of stretches, showing them how to get ready for their big match.

That is in addition to phoning supporters who have been isolating alone throughout lockdown and learned sign language to judge a poetry competition at a deaf school.

And his efforts have made him a bona fide national star – with many calling for him to now lead the country on Twitter:
