FIFA The Best Nominees Revealed as Premier League Stars Dominate 12-Man Shortlist… But Fans Left Shocked After ‘GOAT’ Snubbed

12-Man Shortlist Dominated by Premier League

FIFA has announced the nominees for this year's Best Awards, and the 12-man shortlist for Best Men's Player is dominated by Premier League stars. Five Manchester City players are among the nominees, including Kevin De Bruyne, Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Declan Rice.

Ronaldo Excluded from Nominees

However, some fans have voiced their disappointment after Cristiano Ronaldo was left off the list. The Portuguese veteran has been playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Nassr and has scored 20 goals in 24 games, as well as contributing seven assists. This is not the first time Ronaldo has been excluded, as he was also not nominated last year.

Messi Makes the Cut

On the other hand, Ronaldo's old rival Lionel Messi did make the list, despite his move to Inter Miami in the MLS. The shortlist also includes former Manchester City player Ilkay Gundogan, Marcelo Brozovic, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Kylian Mbappe, and Victor Osimhen.

Other Nominees Announced

Fifa also revealed their list of nominees for other awards. Manchester United's Andre Onana joins Manchester City's Ederson, as well as Yassine Bounou, Thibaut Courtois, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the Best Goalkeeper category. In the Best Coach category, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is nominated alongside Pep Guardiola, Simone Inzaghi, Luciano Spalletti, and Xavi.
