Football fans rage as VAR rules out Neto equaliser for Wolves at Liverpool by smallest of margins

FANS tore into VAR’S offside antics again as Neto became the latest player to have a goal ruled out by the tiniest of margins.

Just after Sadio Mane put Liverpool ahead at Anfield when VAR adjudged Adam Lallana had not handled, Joao Moutinho’s boot was ryled millimetres offside at the other end in the build-up to Neto‘s equaliser on 45 minutes.

Joao Moutinho is adjudged offside by a shoelace or two – meaning a Wolves equaliser for Neto was ruled out

And supporters on social media seemed as fed up with the hairline verdicts as much as delays in waiting for VAR decisions.

Neto himself took some stick for his extravagant celebrations, a wild wide-armed, hand-spinning run to near the dugouts, ending with a knee dive.

But most exasperated fans on Twitter are running out of patience with goal glee being replaced by anti-climaxes and controversial rulings due to VAR.

One supporter tweeted: “We’ll reach the stage soon where no-one will dare celebrate a goal.”

Some questioned how VAR could be sure when making such tight calls.

And another football follower posted: “Even as a Liverpool fan the score should be 1-1.

“VAR did make a correct decision based on the rules but he rule is negatively affecting the game imo.

“That makes Carroll, Burn, Pukki and Neto in 2 days to have a goal ruled out by that margin and it’s just wrong.”
