Forgotten Chelsea star ‘to have Premier League loan CANCELLED as Newcastle enter race for January transfer swoop’

Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea's Andrey Santos, whose loan contract at Nottingham Forest is set to be cancelled.

Newcastle's Struggles

Manager Eddie Howe is determined to address Newcastle's recent poor performance, having suffered four defeats in their last five games.

Newcastle is keen to sign midfielder Andrey Santos.

Santos' loan contract at Nottingham Forest is set to be cancelled by Chelsea.

Santos, 19, has struggled to make an impact at Nottingham Forest since his move from Chelsea at the beginning of the season.

The Brazilian midfielder was signed by Chelsea for £11 million in January from Vasco Da Gama.

However, he was loaned out to Nottingham Forest to gain more playing time this season.

Unfortunately, Santos has only made two appearances for Forest, leading Chelsea to consider cancelling his loan contract this month, according to Nizaar Kinsella from Standard Sport.

Despite facing stiff competition from midfielders such as Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, Romeo Lavia, and Lesley Ugochukwu at Chelsea, Santos may return to the club.

As reported by CaughtOffSide's Ben Jacobs, "Chelsea can terminate the loan agreement if Santos fails to reach a certain number of appearances by January."

Newcastle has reignited their interest in Santos, according to Jacobs.

The young star, who was born in Rio de Janeiro, was strongly linked to a move to St James' Park before joining Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Following their 4-2 defeat to Liverpool on Monday night, Newcastle has been slipping down the Premier League table in recent weeks.

The club's interest in Santos is said to be long-standing, and the addition of the Englishman could provide much-needed reinforcement to the midfield, especially with Sandro Tonali suspended until next season.

Newcastle has also been linked with forgotten Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips, who has only made two starts for the European champions since his £45 million transfer 18 months ago.
