Former Man Utd wonderkid set for Premier League return as new-boys Luton close in on £4m transfer

FORMER Manchester United star Tahith Chong is reportedly closing in on a move to Luton Town.

The 23-year-old left Old Trafford last summer to join Birmingham City in a £1.5million transfer.

Chong is set to become Luton’s record signing

But he is now set for a return to the Premier League.

According to Sky Sports, Chong is edging closer to completing a £4million move to Luton.

Reports also claim that he was booked in to have a medical with the Hatters on Wednesday.

Man Utd are set to receive around £1m from the transfer thanks to a sell-on clause in the winger’s Birmingham contract.

Chong joined the Red Devils from Feyenoord in 2016 and initially played for the Under-18’s.

He made his senior debut in 2018, but struggled to establish himself as a regular in the first team.

The Dutchman was subsequently loaned out three times in two seasons, to Werder Bremen, Club Brugge and Birmingham respectively, before joining the Blues on a permanent transfer last year.

He scored four goals and assisted five in 38 Championship appearances during the 2022-23 campaign.

Once Chong officially joins Luton, he will become the club’s record signing.

His transfer fee is more than double what the club paid for striker Carlton Morris last summer.
