FRANK LAMPARD is a ‘tactical genius’, claims Everton starlet Anthony Gordon.
The former Chelsea boss, 43, has inspired the Toffees to two victories in his first three games, including last weekend’s 3-0 mauling of Leeds United at Goodison Park.
And Gordon, 20, believes that Lampard deserves more respect for his managerial abilities.
He said: “I feel the trust he has got in me. He tells me daily.
“He is an unbelievable manager and he has surprised me, really, with how good he is tactically.
“There is a thing that tactics come from foreign managers and them being geniuses but we need to start giving recognition to the young English managers, such as the gaffer.
“He is a tactical genius and I am thriving off that. I’m learning from him every day, stuff I hadn’t heard before.
“It was those little details, for us to be faster and more aggressive. He wanted to push us higher up the pitch and while it might not seem a lot, those little details go a really long way in a game like this.

“It’s knowing how to get the little details right and what they are doing for the team. It showed in the performance with the result.”
Gordon has been a bright spark for Everton in what has been a disappointing campaign to date.
The winger grabbed an assist in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in December, before scoring twice against Brighton in Rafael Benitez’s penultimate Premier League game in charge.
He has since started all three of Lampard’s matches at the helm – grabbing a goal and an assist in the win over Leeds.
After that performance, Lampard heaped praise on his homegrown winger, saying: “Has he surprised me? No, because I’ve watched a lot of him and I analysed a lot of the games before I came in.
“Anthony was a standout for me. I really liked some of the attributes he was showing before I came.
“But you never know until you get here, and from the first day in training he was engaging – he wants to listen and wants to learn.
“There’s a great talent and a work ethic. When you’re an Everton lad as he is and the fans see that in him.
“He’s got talent as well and I don’t want to underscore that, he can go a long way in the game.
“I can see how much he wants it, and it’s my job and the staff’s job to get that out of him.”
