Fulham ‘have £18m bid for Ajax ace accepted’.. but could pull out of deal if they agree terms with Southampton outcast

FULHAM have reportedly agreed an £18million fee for ex-Rangers star Calvin Bassey.

However, the Cottagers could pull out of the deal IF they agree terms to sign Southampton outcast Mohammed Salisu.

Calvin Bassey has seen a transfer fee agreed between Ajax and Fulham

But the Bassey deal could fall apart if Fulham strike a deal for Mohammed Salisu

According to Sky Sports, Fulham are likely to sign just one of the pair.

Marco Silva‘s side are said to be close to agreeing a deal for Salisu ahead of a £15m transfer.

And Fulham, who finished tenth after making their Premier League return last season, are understood to be leaning towards Salisu.

The report does stipulate that personal terms for the two centre-backs will be a factor in the final decision.

Bassey, 23, signed for Ajax from Rangers after penning a five-year deal last summer in a deal worth just shy of £20m.

But the Nigeria international could soon be set to depart the Amsterdam outfit following the club’s struggles last season.

In Salisu’s case, the Saints are looking to cash in on the 24-year-old – who has one year left on his contract – after he was exiled from the squad.

Reports in April revealed how Salisu was axed due to concerns over his commitment.

And following their relegation to the Championsip, new boss Russell Martin is happy to sell the defender.

Fulham have seen their window marred by a lack of arrivals amid a flood of reports relating to their biggest stars leaving.

Serbian ace Aleksandr Mitrovic is one big name linked with the exit door following his 14 Premier League goals last season.

The 28-year-old told realtives he would never play for the London club again after being left furious at their valuation for him amid interest from Al-Hilal.

The Saudi outfit – who today saw a £259m offer for Kylian Mbappe accepted – saw a £25.5m bid for Mitrovic rejected with Fulham demanding £52m for him.

Since then Fulham have moved to sign Wolves’ striker Raul Jimenez in an effort to replace Mitrovic.

Fulham boss Silva was also the subject of a colossal £40m deal to sign for Al-Ahil, but snubbed the deal.

Elsewhere, we revealed how Fulham rejected a £40m offer from West Ham for stricken midfielder Joao Palhinha.
