Fulham lining up transfer swoop for Liverpool and England defender Joe Gomez as they prepare for Premier League return

FULHAM are lining up a shock transfer swoop for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, according to reports.

The Cottagers are sat 12 points clear at the top of the Championship and are the favourites to win the division.

Gomez is believed to be concerned with his lack of game time

And according to reporter Graeme Bailey, Fulham would like to sign Liverpool defender Gomez upon their return to the top flight.

The defender has fallen out of favour at Anfield and is Jurgen Klopp’s fourth choice centre-back behind summer signing Ibrahima Konate.

Gomez is said to be very concerned with his future at Liverpool as well as at international level with England.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate is a big fan of Gomez but won’t pick him if he’s not playing.

And with the 2022 Qatar World Cup just around the corner, Gomez will need to get minutes to stand a chance of being selected.

Gomez isn’t short of suitors, with London duo Tottenham and West Ham also believed to be interested.

Newcastle and Everton would also take the 24-year-old.

Whether Klopp lets Gomez, who has two years left on his deal leave, is another question.

Gomez could be the long-term replacement for Premier League Player of the Month Joel Matip.

But the Cameroon ace isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Matip played a pivotal role in Liverpool‘s 2-0 win over Brighton, picking out Luis Diaz with an excellent long ball for the opening goal.
