THIS is the moment a furious Michael Carrick clashed with Liverpool fans at Anfield.

Goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah sent Jurgen Klopp’s side 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Carrick rages at Liverpoool fans during the 2-0 defeat at Anfield

It was a frustrating afternoon for United, who should have drawn level but for Anthony Martial to blaze over from close range.

That prompted Gary Neville to bang his desk in anger.

But it was his former Old Trafford team-mate Carrick, now a United coach, who got vocal with fans by the dugout.

Ex-England man Carrick saw red when Liverpool were awarded a corner shortly after Van Dijk’s opener.

Carrick directed the brunt of his anger at fourth official Jon Moss following Craig Pawson’s decision.

But after venting most of his frustration he turned to the crowd after seemingly being annoyed at what someone had said.

That led to a heated exchange with Liverpool supporters and one photo showed Carrick pointing his finger.

Carrick’s outburst was perhaps symptomatic of a club in the middle of a crisis.

Marcus Rashford missed the 2-0 defeat and his back problem will keep him out of the side for at least two months, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed.

Scans revealed that the 22-year-old suffered a stress fracture in his back, which could force Solskjaerto make his move in the transfer market.

When quizzed on how longRashford will be out, the Norwegian boss told Sky Sports: “Rashford? Its a stress fracture that happened against Wolves.

“Its not happened before, it happened there and then.

“Hell be out for a while. He wont be back until after the mid-season break.

“Normally six weeks to heal, but Im not a doctor, and then he needs rehab after that probably.”

Solskjaer also hinted that he could take advantage of the January transfer market to bring someone in as a short-term solution.

He added: “We’ve had many injuries for big players this season. Its just an unfortunate situation we’re in.

“We might look at some short term deals as well that could take us through to the summer.

“We dont desperately need a striker, if the right one is there and it fits for us… weve got players who are champing at the bit.
