But ex-England and Man City goalkeeper, James, has questioned why he would want to leave the Premier League champions.

Some fans have suggested that the Brazilian striker should depart the blue side of Manchester due to the signing of Erling Haaland, 21, from Borussia Dortmund for next season.

James, 51, disagreed telling Genting Casino: “If you look at Man City players’ appearances this season, Bernardo Silva and Rodri have played 30-plus Premier League games.

“Pep’s (Guardiola) rotation has worked perfectly in the sense that they won the Premier League again. I’d imagine Haaland would fit into that mould, he’s not going to play every game.

“Also with his injuries there are question marks over whether he is physically capable of playing all the games.

“Jesus will have a shared role if he stays at Man City. They aren’t going to buy Haaland and start him every game, so there is still room for Jesus.

“Why would he want to leave? You’ve at the best team in England over the past five years, so would he risk it by moving somewhere else to Arsenal, who aren’t even in the Champions League?

Arsenal will be looking to bolster their attacking options after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for Barcelona and Alexandre Lacazette has played his final game in a Gunners shirt.

Jesus is supposedly high up manager Mikel Arteta’s wishlist.

He has spent the last six seasons at City scoring a total of 95 goals winning the Premier League on four ocassions.

But with the incoming arrival of Haaland, he is expected to lead the line for City and pushing Jesus out the starting XI.

Haaland has netted a staggering 86 goals in 89 Dortmund matches.
