GARY NEVILLE hilariously trolled Jamie Carragher after Liverpool drew with Fulham – the side he predicted were ‘certain’ to go down.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds could only muster a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage as Mo Salah’s controversial late penalty rescued a point.
Scott Parker’s side flew out of the blocks and deservedly led through Bobby Decordova-Reid’s magnificent 25th-minute strike.
While Fulham were leading, Neville tweeted three sets of eye emojis alongside a screenshot of a newspaper headline from September that read ‘Jamie Carragher shows Fulham no mercy, predicts relegation and tears into owner’.
Carragher had ripped into the Cottagers after they lost 3-0 at home to Aston Villa two-and-a-half months ago.
He said Fulham were more likely to go down than Liverpool were to retain their title.
Fulham owner Tony Khan had taken to social media after the defensive horror show but ex-Liverpool legend Carragher branded him a ‘clown’.
Carragher told Sky Sports: “It never works, it always ends up in tears.
“He’s a clown, getting involved with that. Just shut your mouth, get on with it, keep your head down.
“It was a really poor performance. It was that bad, we were actually laughing at some of the defending.
“Fulham are going down – I’ve never been more certain about anything in my life.
“I’m more certain of Fulham going down than Liverpool winning the league. What we saw there was actually unbelievable.”
Khan had used Twitter to tell fans he had missed out on crucial defensive targets in the transfer window after seeing his side ship three against last season’s escape artists Villa.
Carragher would have been forced to eat a bigger slice of humble pie if it wasn’t for Andre Marriner’s strange decision to award a handball against Abou Kamara with just 12 minutes left.
Fulham had missed out on their own spot-kick when Marriner disagreed with VAR Lee Mason about a foul by Fabinho on Ivan Cabaleiro before the opening goal.
Injury-ravaged Liverpool missed the chance to go top but will be thankful to have picked up anything after a pulsating first 45 minutes from Parker’s men.
