Graham Potter Turns Down Rangers Job, Awaits Premier Opportunity

Potter Rejects Rangers Approach

Graham Potter has declined an offer to become the new manager of Scottish club Rangers. The move comes as Rangers have struggled in their first four Scottish Premiership games, including a heavy defeat in the Old Firm derby and an early exit from the Champions League qualifiers. Potter was approached by Rangers after the departure of Michael Beale, but he was not interested in discussing the job.

Relaxing and Waiting for the Right Job

Potter, who previously managed Chelsea and Brighton, is not in a hurry to return to management. He prefers to wait for the right opportunity to come along. He recently had discussions with French club Lyon, but ultimately decided against joining the struggling Ligue 1 side, who currently sit at the bottom of France's top tier. Potter wants to work with a club at a Champions League level or one with clear potential to reach Europe's top competition in the near future.

Previous Offers and Achievements

Potter was also approached by Leicester City after his departure from Chelsea. However, he deemed it too soon to return to the game at that point, and Leicester ended up hiring Dean Smith. During his time at Chelsea, Potter won just 12 out of 31 games. Despite this, he is still highly respected in the coaching world, having enjoyed successful tenures with Swedish side Ostersund, as well as Swansea and Brighton.
