Harry Kane ‘to spark summer transfer war between Real Madrid and Juventus’ as European giants target Tottenham striker

REAL MADRID and Juventus could be set for a summer transfer tussle over Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has been missing since rupturing a hamstring in his side’s dismal 1-0 New Year’s Day defeat to Southampton.

Harry Kane has netted 17 goals in 25 appearances this season

But out of sight hasn’t meant out of mind, with Spurs set to face a battle to keep their star striker.

And while interest in Kane is nothing new – Spanish outlet AS claim that the England captain now wants to leave North London.

At Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid he is seen as the perfect replacement for 32-year-old Karim Benzema.

The LaLiga giants have a history of buying from Spurs, having prised Luka Modric away from White Hart Lane in 2012 – with Gareth Bale following suit a year later.

Juventus, meanwhile, are desperate to win the Champions League during the finite period in which they possess Cristiano Ronaldo.

And the Old Lady believe that Kane could act as the perfect foil for the 35-year-old – just as Benzema himself did for so many years at the Bernabeu.

Tottenham have struggled this season, with Jose Mourinho failing to turn last season’s Champions League finalists’ fortunes around.

When the league was paused they found themselves eighth in the table, seven points off fourth place.

While many feel that a Spurs rebuild is what is required, very few could imagine losing Kane to be anything other than a huge step backwards for a club that has already taken their fair share of those of late.

Kane has not featured for Spurs since New Year’s Day

Despite his injury woes, Spurs’ No10 has managed to score 17 goals in 25 games this season.

And this tally has seen him jump ahead of Martin Chivers to go third in the club’s list of all-time leading goalscorers with 181 in 278 appearances.

Only Bobby Smith and 266-goal legend Jimmy Greaves have bagged more.
