Emotional tributes have flooded in after a tragic incident unfolded during the Championship clash between Ipswich Town and QPR. A lifelong Town supporter and long-time season ticket holder collapsed and sadly passed away during the intense game.

Anne Austin: A Beloved Fan Lost

The Town CEO, Mark Ashton, released a statement confirming the heartbreaking news and identifying the fan as 81-year-old Anne Austin. Anne, who had been a dedicated supporter and season ticket holder for many years, fell ill during the match and received treatment in the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand. Tragically, she passed away at Portman Road.

The club has been in contact with Anne's family to provide support during this difficult time. The players and coaching staff will wear black armbands as a mark of respect during their upcoming fixture with Stoke City on New Year's Day.

Tributes and Condolences

The news of Anne's passing has prompted an outpouring of heartfelt tributes from fellow fans and members of the football community.

"How sad that she died at a place she loved… thoughts for Anne's family. May she rest in peace," one person wrote.

Another expressed their support, saying, "I hope you rest in peace Anne, and your family can find some comfort in knowing they have the love and support of some 30,000 people around them."
