‘He’s gone full Pep’ – Chelsea fans fume at Graham Potter’s ‘mad’ starting XI to face Wolves

CHELSEA fans have been left stunned by the team manager Graham Potter has selected to play versus Wolves.

Surprisingly, Reece James after a brilliant display versus AC Milan has been benched along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.

Graham Potter’s team selection includes some surprise omissions

The Blues’ squad depth really shows with Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech and even Edouard Mendy not in the starting XI.

Supporters did not believe it when they saw the team news with one saying: “Sterling, Aubameyang and James are their biggest attacking threats and they’re all benched. Potter is not serious man.”

More were left shocked: “That injury hit Wolves XI matches ours. We’ve just made a 65/35 game in our favour to 50/50. Baffling.”

Another was less annoyed at the ex-Brighton boss saying, “he’s gone full Pep” referencing Man City boss Pep Guardiola’s renowned tinkering with the team.

There was confusion over Mason Mount starting yet again, a complained: “What on God’s green Earth is this?”

More fans couldn’t believe it: “Good joke, now release the real one.”

Potter has perhaps made plenty of changes due to the busy fixture list approaching and the fact they played a Champions League game in midweek.

This afternoon there are rare starts for Christian Pulisic, Trevor Chalobah, Conor Gallagher and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Chelsea fans often raged at Thomas Tuchel for often not starting an out-and-out striker in Kai Havertz but Potter has done the same thing.

Wolves have got off to a terrible start in the Premier League and it has resulted in manager Bruno Lage losing his job.

With his replacement not yet signed Steve Davis is in temporary charge and he has chosen to hand Diego Costa a start versus his former club.
