How Arsenal could line up under Allegri with Paulo Dybala, Sami Khedira and Daniele Rugani transforming starting XI

MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI could transform Arsenal if chosen as the man to replace Mikel Arteta.

While the Gunners have placed their faith in the former midfielder to turn the side around, the team continues to slide down the table.

Massimiliano Allegri has won a whole host of trophies in Italy

What an Allegri premiership may look like can be deciphered from the Italian’s spell in charge of Juventus.

Between 2014 and 2019, he won five Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia crowns and reached a Champions League final.

Considerable tactical flexibility and an ability to get the best out of aging stars made Allegri a perfect fit for the Old Lady.

And Arsenal could do with a similar boost now, given the predictable nature of Arteta’s attack and the poor form of veterans such as Willian and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The frontline is certainly the first area in need of sprucing up and Allegri may want to bring Paulo Dybala over from Juventus.

The Argentine has fallen out of favour under Andrea Pirlo and is linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal jumping in ahead of Les Parisiens would prove a huge coup and Dybala could fit into either a 4-4-2 diamond or 3-5-2 under Allegri.

It was the diamond formation which took Juve to the 2015 Champions League final.

Existing stars such as Thomas Partey, Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney would fit the system.

Sami Khedira would also supplement both styles and, like Dybala, was signed by Allegri for Juventus in 2015.

The Bianconeri no longer need the German and he will be allowed to leave on the cheap in January, with Manchester United and Everton reportedly keen.

Another who enjoyed his time under Allegri was Daniele Rugani.

Sent out on loan to Rennes in October, the centre-back has long been described as a target for the Gunners.

Arteta still has plenty of time to turn things around at Emirates Stadium and could quieten his critics with a win in the North London derby on Sunday.

But, with Allegri among the bookies’ favourites should the job become available, he will know that opportunities in this business are not infinite.
