How Barcelona could line up next season after more free agent transfers including Chelsea duo Azpilicueta & Christensen

BARCELONA have been linked with several players who could arrive on free transfers next summer.

Chelsea pair Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen have become the latest stars linked with a move to the Nou Camp.

But Barcelona are still recovering from the financial turmoil which saw losses of £408million and the departures of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

That meant the club was restricted to free-agent signings with Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia all arriving for nothing.

And President Joan Laporta could be planning the same transfer strategy for next summer.

Paul Pogba is one such target with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also said to be keen on the midfielder.

His future is still not clear despite Manchester United reportedly edging closer to agreeing a new deal.

Should the Catalans miss out on Pogba, they may bolster their midfield by signing AC Milan’s Franck Kessie or Marcelo Brozovic from Inter.

An alternative Barcelona XI should they have more money to spend

Both players’ contracts are due to expire at the end of the season and Inter are holding talks with Brozovic this week in an attempt to tie down his future.

Divock Origi is being targeted as an attacking reinforcement – the Belgian famously scored twice against Barcelona en route to Liverpool’s Champions League win in 2019.

Barca have also been linked with Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, with a January approach possible given his contract expires in June.

And should Laporta manage to cobble together some transfer funds, there could be some more ambitious moves next summer.

Raheem Sterling, who has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City, could be available in Janaury.

He has a price tag of £60m but Barcelona chiefs reportedly believe they could secure a deal for less than that.

His team-mate Ferran Torres is another attacker who interests Barcelona, and the club had a move for the Spaniard knocked back by City in the summer.
